Meet The Instructors
Carla
Founder of Swim Savvy
I started Swim Savvy out of my combined love of children, swimming and teaching. Originally from Roanoke, Virginia, I began serving the Greater Greenville area over a decade ago.
While I’ve always gravitated towards the water myself, (participating in summer swim team, lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons), it was becoming a mother that led me towards teaching water safety and survival skills to young children.
Before moving to Greenville, I was fortunate enough to have found a swim program in Roanoke, VA, where my eldest child was trained in swimming survival. When my youngest was unable to complete the program, due to our move to Greenville, the owner of the swim program was kind enough to teach me the skills needed to continue training him on my own. It was through teaching my own son that I found my passion. Soon after, I began teaching lessons at my neighborhood pool in Simpsonville, and haven’t stopped since.
What brings me the greatest joy is seeing the confidence and excitement that children find when participating in these swimming lessons, and the peace of mind that it brings their parents. Each instructor on our team carries their own unique skills and qualities, making Swim Savvy a special and unique swimming program. Knowing that Swim Savvy has given the children we teach the tools to survive in the water is more than priceless. It keeps us going.
