SWIM PROGRAM

There are 4 levels that your child will move through in this program. These levels build on themselves, each providing students with new skills and techniques.


Our SWIM program is designed for children ages 4 and up. With our central focus always being on safety, this course additionally teaches students proper stroke mechanics. Completion of this program will prepare your child for joining a swim team, or to simply enjoy advanced recreational swimming.

Minnow Level 1


Here we focus on the basics, such as floating, gliding, breath control and proper body alignment, in preparation for stroke development. In this level, we ensure that each swimmer is comfortable in the water and are able to swim independently and confidently.


Skills Learned:

  • Independent float
  • Breath control
  • Simple submersion
  • Holding on to the side of the pool
  • Recovery
  • Jumping in, rolling to back, and getting to side of pool

Structure

These are Two on One, 30-minute classes. Child attends once per week until ready for next level.

Minnow Level 2


At this level, confidence grows with continued work on breath control, gliding, changing positions and developing kicking skills.


Skills Learned:

  • Forward glide and roll to back
  • Begin backstroke
  • Proper body form and developing kicking skills
  • Assisted & unassisted bilateral breathing
  • Breath control
  • Recovery

Structure

These are Two on One, 30-minute classes. Child attends once per week until ready for next level.

Minnow Level 3


At Level 3, we continue building on our foundation and gain further independence by strengthening kicking skills and introducing stroke mechanics.

With newly developed kicking skills and stroke work, in this level students are introduced to proper freestyle and backstroke techniques, strengthening endurance and independence.


Skills Learned:

  • Improving Kicking Skills
  • Stroke Mechanics
  • Strengthening Endurance + Independence


Structure

These are Two on One, 30-minute classes. Child attends once per week until ready for next level.

Minnow Level 4


At level 4, we strive for mastery of all other learned skills while focusing on independent mastery.


Skills Learned:

  • Stamina in water in independent swimming
  • Other swim strokes

Breast stroke skills are developed in this level while children continue building strength and endurance through their practice of freestyle and backstroke.

By now, students have the strength, endurance and fine motor skills to learn butterfly stroke while continuing their practice of freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke.
